Will Ulitzer and SocialYell Dominate News Content on The Web (Eventually)? is the blog title of Gartner's Anthony Bradley. In his blog entry, Bradley writes: "Hype around Ulitzer.com (the social-journalism news magazine site) is climbing. At one point they were offering authors 200% of their Google AdSense revenue... I am convinced that the only way to change the world is through collectively determining how we spend our money and our votes. Will Ulitzer be this vehicle?" Ulitzer content is grouped in 25 distinct subjects from "Aerospace and Defense" to "Travel and Hospitality." Each subject group offers an unlimited number of topics, and each topic may contain thousands of peer-reviewed feature stories, bylined articles, blog posts, news, reviews, commentary, and unique editorial content authored by top experts in their fields. Ulitzer is designed to replace Wikiped... (more)

Ulitzer vs. Ning

My original post in late June was based on two weeks of using Ulitzer and Ning.  I've added additional thoughts after two months of use. The obvious point for me is that the sites have two different objectives for the writers.  For Ning, the writer is trying to be involved in a niche social network from scratch.  For example, I have built my own social network for marketers and salespeople called BuyerSteps.  I created BuyerSteps as a way for other professionals to join in a conversation around the 21st century buyer.  So, Ning represents a way to build a community. In the case o... (more)

Is Ulitzer a New Trend or the Ultimate Death of Journalism?

I must confess I am very new to Ulitzer as an online channel of social communication media. But I am delighted about its raison d'être. However, I cannot but ask these questions: Is Ulitzer the beginning of a new trend or the ultimate death of journalism? Or is it the glorification of e-journalism? The realization of new journalism practice in the age of Web services and Internet Technology? These series of questions are being answered everyday as the new social media moguls and barons and baronesses of the Internet Media launched another online media channel, one after another. We... Newspaper and Magazine Circulations Will Get Hit Hard By "New Media" Tsunami

New Media on Ulitzer Take a plastic world globe and place a pin on roughly where Silicon Valley is. Then tie a piece of yarn to the pin and extend it to any country around the Globe. With a quick visual conversion, the length of the yarn shows the approximate number of years for that particular country to get hit with the "new-media" tsunami forming in the United States. What am I talking about? Europe and Asia Historically Followed U.S. Two Years Behind Well, traditionally for any technology trend to reach from the United States to Europe and Asia took a couple of years. If we... (more)

Ulitzer’s Amazing First 30 Days in Public Beta

http://twitter.com/fuatkircaali Today marks the 30th day of Ulitzer's public beta. We had an amazing month and perhaps one of the most widely discussed launches of a "new media" site. Gartner recently asked, "Will Ulitzer dominate news content on the Web eventually?" The answer is yes, and I'll explain why. First, I'd like to share some of the 30-day stats with you. We had more than 140,000 visitors who read 197,000 pages of articles, blogs and news stories. The syndicated page views (outside the Ulitzer domain) exceeded 1,369,983 page views. The legendary technology reporter Maur... (more)
