Confessions of a Ulitzer Addict

John Funnel on Ulitzer Earlier this year one of my staff attended a SYS-CON event and returned to the office a different person. Revitalised and motivated. I asked her what happened at the event to warrant such a transformation? What was her secret? Was it the New York Shopping experience? A business Romance or was it Devine intervention? She simply advised me to ‘check out Ulitzer. – Everyone who is anyone is on it’. She was not the first to introduce me to the innovation. Many of my peers had gone through such noticeable changes, It was like a weight had been lifted from their shoulders, that they now had a true portal to vent out their innermost thoughts. I was instantly intrigued by such recommendations. People, just like me, were using Ulitzer everywhere. So what had I been fighting against all this time? What was I avoiding? Eventually I succumbed to the in... (more)

Ulitzer Responds to Adobe's User Community

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our readers, authors, and the newly born Ulitzer community for making our March 29, 2009 beta launch an astonishing success! Ulitzer, the first "new media" platform in history, is on its way to becoming one of the fastest growing professional viral sites on the Internet. Since Ulitzer's beta launch a few weeks ago, a number of inaccurate and untrue blog posts have also appeared that were picked up from blog sites from wihin Adobe's user community. Some of these stories even accused Ulitzer of "posting stolen articles." Two weeks after our beta launch, out of roughly 1 million original articles published on the site, not a single story was removed for copyright violation.  This is because either Ulitzer.com owns the articles, including all content that appears at www.sys-con.com, or has the copyrights to each and every ... We had more than 140,000 visitors who read 197,000 pages of articles, blogs and news stories. The syndicated page views (outside the Ulitzer domain) exceeded 1,369,983 page views. Web 2.0 Is Dead and Web 3.0 Is Five Years Away

http://twitter.com/fuatkircaali Do you remember our Y2K problem eight years ago? On January 1, 2000, all of a sudden, there was no Y2K problem. For many years every software company collectively made billions of dollars on Y2K projects. Y2K became an industry inside the software industry. I recall meeting a computer consultant who claimed to be fixing the Y2K problem on QuickBooks on a local PC used by a local mom and pop shop, a "hire a nurse" small business. Unfortunately Web 2.0 was not so lucky. Forget about the IBMs, Microsofts, Oracles of the industry for a moment that forayed into the Web 2.0 craze simply because of the buzz that started a couple of years ago. For the rest of the software vendors and the VC-based start-ups who bet their entire business on Web 2.0, the season is unfortunately over for now. The new game is played a little differently now in the... (more)

Adobe and Social Media Terrorists

Since launching our revolutionary Ulitzer platform we have been the butt of a smear campaign perpetrated by a small number of social media terrorists from within Adobe's Flex user community. Ulitzer, Inc. owns www.sys-con.com. I cannot imagine a Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Google, or Apple employee publicly writing "SYS-CON should die!" under his or her corporate credentials, or leaving reader feedback on a Gartner blog implying "SYS-CON are thieves" next to his or her corporate credentials especially when the allegation is false and carries legal consequences. Naturally we documented these attacks and forwarded them to Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen. Adobe assured us that none of its employees would do such a thing and claimed it must be a few "disgruntled" members of the Flex community. In other words Adobe shrugged off the libels and failed to rein in its people. This... (more)
