Will Ulitzer and SocialYell Dominate News Content on The Web (Eventually)? is the blog title of Gartner's Anthony Bradley. High-Tech Public Relations and Alan Zeichick - Analyze This!

When I landed in Athens, Greece, on Sunday, October 13, 2007, the last thing on my mind was writing a blog entry about high-tech public relations, until I heard from a PR agent on the day of my arrival. In the past 10 days or so we have been working with her on a breaking news story that is currently under NDA. I was so impressed with her professionalism and her passion for perfection that yesterday I posted a blog entry, recommending the agency she works for, to technology companies that are searching for a highly qualified public relations firm. Within minutes of my blog entry, I received the strangest email notification, alerting me to another blog written by Alan Zeichick, "co-founder and editorial director of BZ Media, which publishes SD Times and Software Test & Performance, and which also produces the Software Security Summit, Software Test & Performance Conf... Ulitzer vs. Ning - a Quick Review

Having used both sites for about two weeks, there is still a great deal I am learning to do with both Ulitzer and Ning, but a reader asked if I would do a quick comparison, so I will. The obvious point for me is that the sites have two different objectives for the writers.  For Ning, the writer is trying to be involved in a niche social network from scratch.  For example, I have built my own social network for marketers and salespeople called BuyerSteps.  I created BuyerSteps as a way for other professionals to join in a conversation around the 21st century buyer.  So, Ning represents a way to build a community. In the case of Ulitzer, as a writer I am focused on getting readers from within an existing audience.  There are already thousands of readers coming to the Ulitzer site, so if they are interested in my topics such as marketing, they will find my articles as ... Confessions of a Ulitzer Addict

John Funnel on Ulitzer Earlier this year one of my staff attended a SYS-CON event and returned to the office a different person. Revitalised and motivated. I asked her what happened at the event to warrant such a transformation? What was her secret? Was it the New York Shopping experience? A business Romance or was it Devine intervention? She simply advised me to ‘check out Ulitzer. – Everyone who is anyone is on it’. She was not the first to introduce me to the innovation. Many of my peers had gone through such noticeable changes, It was like a weight had been lifted from their shoulders, that they now had a true portal to vent out their innermost thoughts. I was instantly intrigued by such recommendations. People, just like me, were using Ulitzer everywhere. So what had I been fighting against all this time? What was I avoiding? Eventually I succumbed to the in... (more)

Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) and Floods Hit the Philippines

I was lucky that Typhoon Ondoy did not affect my apartment. We are out in Pampanga two hours from Manila but we did not have a flood in my little neighborhood. But so many people died in this typhoon, and now the world knows what can happen in the Philippines. We get more than 20 typhoons each year and they cause many problems. Typhoon Feria back there in June damaged many houses in Samar Province where I am from. I was visiting then and it was very scary. You know we don't have a radio there or any way to know when a typhoon is coming. We just hope for the best and we know that no one will help us. Two other typhoons in August and September gave us rain for more than one week. A lot of floods and some people died then, too. But I think that nobody outside of the Philippines knows about these things unless they are very, very bad. As I said, my family and friends ... (more)
